Graduate HSEQ Advisor

Location: Castlecary, Cumbernauld

Hours of Work: 39 hour week (M-T, 0800 – 1630, F – 0800 - 1530)

CMS Group specialise in the design, manufacture and installation of PVCu and aluminium windows, doors and curtain walling systems.  Our comprehensive approach to building envelope solutions and window technology divides across three sectors: CMS Facades, CMS Window Systems and CMS Trade. 

We are seeking a graduate HSEQ Advisor to be based at our Head Office in Castlecary, Cumbernauld.  The HSEQ Advisor will be the driving force behind business system improvements in relation to ISO 14001 and 9001. They will contribute to the overall environmental strategy and coordinate a programme of environmental, sustainable development and community-led activity and ensure our facilities operate beyond compliance. 

Key responsibilities will include:

Environmental Management

  • Developing and maintaining environmental and sustainable development initiatives in line with the Company’s strategic objectives and priorities.
  • Completing the environmental departments daily, weekly and monthly task list, ensuring all areas are covered e.g. waste, water, energy, carbon.
  • Designing and delivering environmental awareness and spill response training as required.
  • Compiling monthly environmental reports, ensuring all environmental issues are raised, energy, waste and water totals are reported, and any corrective actions or recommendations are made.

Management Systems - ISO 14001 and ISO 9001

  • Maintaining current business management systems, ensuring that the associated documentation is kept up to date and reviewed regularly.
  • Supporting with internal and external audits, giving appropriate feedback and assisting departments with putting improvement plans into place.
  • Reviewing ongoing compliance with legislation for all relevant current and future business activity.
  • Monitoring, measuring, analysing and evaluating performance data from all CMS sites, e.g. fuel usage, waste totals etc.
  • Designing and delivering internal training to employees on their responsibilities in terms of maintaining business management standards, environmental commitments and best practice.

Health and Safety

  • Supporting the H&S Manager with the preparation and delivery of Health and Safety training and toolbox talks.
  • Investigating, or where appropriate assisting others to investigate, the circumstances and causes of incidents and accidents and work with the H&S manager to take necessary steps to prevent a recurrence
  • Monitoring, evaluating and reviewing Health and Safety policy and practice, making recommendations and implementing new policies and procedures as required.
  • Assisting the H&S Manager in the maintenance of safe systems of work providing advice, coaching and practical hands on support.
  • Assisting Managers and Staff with the development, implementation, communication and review of Safe Systems of Work in accordance with current legislation including Safe Working methodologies, Risk Assessment, COSHH Assessments etc.
  • Assisting the Health and Safety Manager in ensuring the business is Coronavirus Safe, including regular updates to management, legislation updates, inspections of factory areas etc.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Degree qualified in relevant subject (e.g. Environmental Science, Quality, Manufacturing Management or similar)
  • Knowledge of ISO management systems, implementation and improvement.
  • Understanding of internal auditing, identifying non-conformances and giving feedback.
  • Strong team working skills, in order to collaborate with different areas to implement improvements.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to tailor delivery to different audiences.
  • Motivation to challenge the 'status quo', balanced with a supportive approach to change management and the associated challenges this brings.
  • Membership of professional body (e.g. IEMA) would be desirable but not essential.

Quantity Surveyor

Location: Castlecary, Cumbernauld

At CMS Facades, we are pioneers in façade engineering and one of the leading façade solution providers in the UK. We offer complete building envelope solutions spanning multiple sectors and some of the most complex and architecturally challenging new build and retrofit projects across the UK.

We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to be based at our Head Office in Castlecary, Cumbernauld.  Working as part of the Facades QS team, you will commercially control and manage all costs and billing applications relating to assigned Facades projects, from the initial order through to the final account.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing construction issue drawings and specifications against tender documentation.
  • Reviewing subcontractor quotes and authorising subcontractors orders.
  • Ensuring that all activities are delivered to the agreed time/cost/service specification.
  • Preparing phased values for each assigned project.
  • Attending the internal operation/handover meetings.
  • Assisting in project risk assessment and value management.
  • Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks.
  • Preparing and submitting interim Applications for Payment and Final Accounts.
  • Preparing and authorising subcontractor payment sheets.
  • Identifying and securing reimbursement of variations to the contracted scope of works and ensuring inclusion in Applications for Payment;
  • Maintaining a positive cash flow and maximise profitability of projects.
  • Liaising with operations to ensure projects are run efficiently and on time.
  • Liaising with manufacturing / customer care to ensure best service is provided to the client.
  • Managing, monitoring and reporting on all commercial aspects of projects.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying.
  • An experienced Quantity Surveyor with 2+ years’ experience ideally in a construction / manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft systems with Intermediate or advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Façade Engineer

Location: Castlecary, Cumbernauld

We are seeking a Facades Engineer to be based at our Head Office in Castlecary, Cumbernauld.  Working as part of the Facades Design team, you will be responsible for the steady and feasible construction of façade works.  

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Creating, revising and issuing Revit model and design drawings to clients.
  • Receiving and logging all incoming models and drawings from client/architect etc.
  • Scheduling all materials for site use from design drawings.
  • Creating fabrication drawings for flashings and brackets.
  • Creating packages for installation teams detailing all fitting details, fixings etc.
  • Creating and issuing O&M information for completed projects.
  • Producing standard SER information and collating reports for review.
  • Creating and issuing drawing release programmes.
  • Attending design meetings.
  • Adhering to company drawing / modelling standards.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • In possession of a relevant qualification
  • Able to demonstrate a minimum of 3 years’ experience working within façade design relating to curtain walling, windows and doors.
  • Experienced in a range of façade systems including Revit, with the ability to develop the relevant solutions for a given project. In addition, you will be able to demonstrate experience and knowledge in the fabrication and procurement of façades.
  • Great at organising and prioritising their workload and able to thrive in a busy environment with competing deadlines.
