Freelance Quantity Surveyor

CMS Window Systems is an industry leading building envelope contractor specialising in the design, manufacture and installation of PVCu and aluminium windows, doors and curtain walling systems.
We are currently seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to work on a freelance basis, initially for 6 months. You will be based between Liverpool and Manchester to take care of our ongoing and potential projects.
Ideally looking for someone to start ASAP.

Window Surveyor – Castlecary, Cumbernauld

We are recruiting for an experienced Window Surveyor. Reporting to the Senior Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for carrying out a comprehensive survey to determine manufacturing detail. Drawing up surveys to enable order processing whilst promoting a professional image and upholding the company values.
You will have excellent communication skills and be able to work on your own and as part of a team.
Responsibilities:

  • Surveying and assessing windows and doors across a range of properties;
  • To liaise with property owners and clients;
  • Ensure that all work is completed in line with statutory and planning requirements;
  • To produce risk assessments and installation method statements for health and safety;
  • Submit completed survey sheets;
  • To liaise with site agents and attend meetings as required;

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Able to demonstrate excellent communication, time management and organisation skills.
  • In possession of a full, clean driving license.
  • Window and door surveying experience.
  • Good knowledge of current building regulations.

Aluminium Fabricator

CMS are looking for an experienced Aluminium Window Fabricator to join our busy team here in Castlecary. Reporting to the Aluminium Factory Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring orders are completed to a high standard to meet deadlines;
Aluminium Fabricator Responsibilities:
• Set up and operate equipment efficiently and safely as required to your area;
• Understand and interpret technical drawings;
• Fabricate doors / windows and curtain walling in line with LEAN Manufacturing criteria and CMS quality standards and customer expectations;
• Ensure the machinery used is in safe working order and any issues/defects are reported immediately;
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:
• A minimum of 3 years working within an aluminium window fabricating role
• Good communications skills
• Can work on own initiative

Sheet Metal Operative

This is a varied and exciting role suitable for an experienced Sheet Metal Operative. Reporting to the Sheet Metal Supervisor, you will be responsible for cutting sheets to form weld materials from engineering drawings;
• Working with sheet metal up to 6mm thick;
• You must be able to understand and interpret technical drawing;
• Ensure machinery used is in safe working order and any issues/defects are reported immediately;
• You will have excellent communication skills and be able to work on your own and as part of a team.

Trainee Aluminium Supply Chain Planner

CMS are recruiting for an enthusiastic trainee who is looking to take their first step into a career in Aluminium Supply Chain Planning. This is a dedicated 4-year program which will give you all the training you need to progress in your career.
You will assist the Aluminium supply chain planning manager to ensure the production schedule is monitored and maintained as well as procurement of materials. The ideal candidate will be computer literate and would benefit from having an aluminium fabrication background but it is not essential.

• Working with team members to establish project requirements;
• Working with team members to build delivery programmes;
• Ensure that that the team has full visibility of post contract program requirements and that resources are allocated accordingly, taking cognisance of the contract start date;
• Ensure parity of Drawings between Drawing date and varying contract start dates;
• Review and measure the performance of suppliers and benchmark then in terms of OTIF delivery.
• Ensure that continual improvement is built into the surveying process and that corrective actions are implemented for instances of non-conformance.
• Ensure all materials are ordered in conjunction with manufacturing programme and installation programmes;

PVC fabricators - Castlecary, Cumbernauld

Due to continued growth, CMS Window Systems are looking to recruit experienced Window and Door Fabricators for a number of permanent positions.

We are able to offer the right candidates:

  • Very competitive pay rates – we have recently increased our pay rates to up to £11.00 per hour for dayshift and up to £14.50 per hour for nightshift with enhanced rates for overtime.
  • Weekly production bonus – payable based on quality and production targets.
  • Shift patterns covering 5 week days, 39 hours per week – dayshift and nightshift hours may be available with optional overtime at weekends.
  • Travel Support – additional travel allowances and / or car share schemes will be considered for employees who live further afield.
  • Great working environment – our main manufacturing facility is based at our site in Castlecary, Cumbernauld with onsite parking and café facilities. 
  • Job security – CMS has a very healthy order book for 2018 and ambitious growth plans over the next five years.  We are investing in machinery and improving our operations for the benefit of customers and our employees.

Our ideal candidates will be experienced PVC / Window & Door Fabricators who are able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment in operations such as cutting, routing, assembling, general machining & fabrication, using hand & power tools.
  • Able to follow procedures and instructions, especially those relating to safety and quality.
  • A good attention to detail and a capability to check and measure work to ensure a high standard of quality.
  • An ability to operate well using your own initiative and to contribute as part of a team.
  • A positive attitude and enthusiasm towards achieving quality and productivity targets as well as developing your own skills.
