When are you looking for staff to start?

Dependant on the job role and sucessful candidates notice period, we are likely to start staff as soon as they are available.

How many hours a week will I work?

Working hours are 39 hours per week, however overtime is dictated by the needs of the business. You may be asked to work more than 39 hours per week.

What will my shift pattern be?

The shift pattern is dependant on the job role:

 

Office hours are:

Monday - Thursday - 8:00 - 16:30

Friday - 8:00 - 15:30

 

Factory Hours are:

Monday  - Thursday - 07:30 - 16:00

Friday - 07:30 - 14:30

 

Nightshift (Castlecary) Factory Hours are:

Sunday - Wednesday - 22:00 - 06:30

Thursday - 18:00 - 01:00

 

Site Hours are:

Monday - Thursday - 07:30 - 16:00

Friday - 07:30 - 14:30

 

 

Will I receive a uniform and do I need to provide anything myself?

All factory employees will be supplied with a uniform. We provide specialist footwear, where a department's needs dictate this for Health and Safety reasons.

How and when do I get paid?

Dependant on your job role you will either be:

 

  • Monthly paid on the last day of the month (or last working day if this falls on a Saturday / Sunday or bank holiday).
  • Weekly paid on a Friday each week.

Do I need to obtain a visa to work at CMS?

All employees will be required to show proof of your eligibility to work in the UK, normally a passport or birth certificate and proof of National Insurance.

If you are a non UK citizen then your proof of right to work in the UK will be required before starting with CMS.

You will need one of the following:

  • biometric residence permit number
  • biometric residence card number
  • your passport or national identity card - if you have settled or pre-settled status

Do you provide transport/how do I get to work?

We do not provide transport for employees. However,  we do offer a fuel allowance on occasion for those who are travelling longer distance to get to work dependant on the job role.

There are specific roles within CMS whereby a car allowance or company van may be essential but this would be explained to any potential employees before starting with us.

What is the recruitment process? Do I need to attend an interview if I don’t live locally?

The Recruitment process is similar for all of the roles within the business.

  • Once applications have been shortlisted you will then be invited to an interview - this may be done via skype call if you live too far away to attend face to face initially. However, a direct interview will still be required at some point.
  • Following interview you may be asked to attend a second stage interview or to complete a practical assessment depending on the job role.
  • If you are successful following this you may be offered the job and a formal offer letter will be sent to you with full details of employment and start date.
  • If you have been unsuccessful following interview you will receive an email or phone call to advise. You can request further feedback from the HR team if required.

How long will my probationary period last?

All employees will complete a six month probationary period. New employees during this time will be reviewed regularly by mentors and management to help them to successfully progress in the role.

Will I receive an induction and training for my job?

All new employees will receive a Health and Safety Induction on their first day. They will then continue to work through the department induction with their direct Manager and team mentor who will carry out on the job training with them.

Dependant on the role there may be specific training requirements which will be carried out along with an internal or external assessor.

Are there any financial penalties for not fulfilling my notice period if I wish to leave?

You will only be paid for the hours you have worked and on occasion a deduction may be made to cover any holidays that are owed to the company but in general you would not face a financial penalty.

 

If I leave will I receive a reference?

CMS will only release your dates of employment. No personal character references are issued from the company.
