High performance curtain walling and doors by CMS Window Systems were crucial in helping CCG deliver a stunning £4m visitor centre for SSE in Perthshire. The new visitor centre is cantilevered eight metres out from the banks of the River Tummel providing breath-taking views of the Dam and surrounding area and visitors are able to view the Pitlochry Dam, hydro station and Loch Faskally through glazing designed, manufactured and installed by CMS.
Working to a building design to maximise natural daylight and frame the wonderful view, CMS provided over 140m2 of Metal Technology System 17 SP curtain walling which offered the required aesthetics as well as high performance thermal efficiency and weathering. Metal Technology's System 5-20D Hi+ doors, part of its high performance Thermal suite, were also delivered.
Alastair Wylie, CCG Chairman and Chief Executive, added: “We were delighted to take on this project given the unique location and construction challenges. We hope that the end result reflects the stunning environment and offers a modern and vibrant building for visitors. Our build was focused on maximising sustainable building methods and creating a building fit for its surroundings.”
CMS Aluminium Director, Stephen Anderson, said: “At CMS, our aim is to always design, manufacture and install the highest quality products to the best possible standard and we were very pleased to work with CCG to deliver this stunning building, which is set to become a major tourist attraction for Scotland.”
