Sustainable doors and windows innovator wins top entrepreneur award

14 Oct 2015

Managing director of CMS Window Systems, Andy Kerr, was among the elite group of business leaders who recently took home an EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2015 UK award.

Beating off competition from the leaders of some of the country’s most highly rated businesses, Andy was assessed against six criteria - entrepreneurial spirit, financial performance, innovation, strategic direction, personal integrity and influence, and national and global impact. Only the top 11 business leaders (ten companies) that best demonstrated these features were named winners, with each business leader receiving the accolade – EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2015 UK winner.

Established in 2006, CMS Window Systems is one of the country’s leading window, door and curtain walling fabricators and installers, who now also offer external wall insulation and cladding to deliver the most energy efficient and sustainable homes, schools, hospitals, offices and public buildings.

Andy has built the firm on a sustainability ethos, which extends into every aspect of the business.  This includes a commitment to apprenticeships and youth employment, which goes much further than that of most manufacturing businesses, right through to offering an extensive range of products and systems designed for low carbon buildings and operating in a resource-efficient way, with virtually all waste recycled.

CMS has the capacity to produce more than 130,000 window units and thousands of square metres of curtain walling every year thanks to continued investment in its manufacturing capabilities.  The firm provides a 360-degree building envelope solution from design through manufacture, installation and aftercare, an approach that sees it work on some of the largest housing investment programmes and commercial building projects UK-wide.
